Woman jailed after explosives and ammunition found in home
Police unsure why the woman had the stash of explosives which included 2000 rounds and hand grenades
A woman who kept hand grenades, improvised explosives and thousands of rounds of ammunition stashed in her home has been jailed.
Heather Exley, 44, was jailed for three years at Leeds Crown Court on Monday, West Yorkshire Police confirmed.
Officers say that the remarkable hoard of explosive material posed a clear danger to herself and nearby homes but they still don't know what her motivation for storing the haul was.
When they raided her home in Penn Drive, Liversedge, West Yorkshire, The North North East Counter Terrorism Unit said they found:
Specialist spent days searching the house and making the material safe, police say.
Exley was charged with 10 offences under the Explosives Act and three offences under the Firearms Act and pleaded guilty to all the offences in November last year.
