Matthew Lewis: from Harry Potter to Happy Valley
He shot to fame as bumbling but kind-hearted Neville Longbottom, but now he's playing a creepy murder suspect - Matthew Lewis talks about life after Potter.
He shot to fame as the bumbling and yet often heroic Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter series of films.
Since then, actor Matthew Lewis has swapped magic and mandrakes for the gritty streets of West Yorkshire, playing the creepy prime suspect in Happy Valley’s latest murder.
He talked about his appearance on the show, which was in part related to filming Victorian-era Ripper Street, meaning he was stuck with a rather dramatic moustache and sideburns look!
It’s not the first time he’s had his appearance dramatically altered for a part though - check out the interview below with our Grant Lauchlan, where he revealed how much work Neville’s appearance took for the Harry Potter films.
No wonder he’s often hailed as the most dramatically changed since then - he didn’t even look like himself!
Matthew also told Holly and Phillip a story about one of his Potter co-stars; check out the video in the top player to see how Rupert Grint a.k.a Ron Weasley managed to get one over on him...
So is his Happy Valley character the murderer? Or is there more to the story? He’s not giving much away, but as he mentions, there are still two episodes to go, so anything can happen!
