Former TV weatherman Fred Talbot has appeared in court charged with indecent assault.

He made no plea or declaration during a private hearing at Dumfries Sheriff Court.

He faced ten charges of indecent assault and two breach of the peace charges, the Crown Office confirmed.

The 66-year-old, whose address was given as Bowdon, was remanded in custody ahead of another expected court appearance on March 11.

The alleged offences are understood to cover a 13-year period from 1968 to 1981.
