An elderly man has been airlifted to hospital after being attacked by a cow.

The animal ran into the man, who is in his 70s, at a farm in Perthshire on Friday morning.

He was taken to hospital suffering from serious chest injuries.

The attack happened at Middleton Farm in Balbeggie.

A Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) spokesman said: "SAS received an emergency call shortly after 11am this morning for a male in his 70s who has been injured after cow ran into him.

"A local ambulance crew and Helimed 76, Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance, were sent to the scene.

"The patient was airlifted to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee with a chest injury. He is in a stable condition."
