WhatsApp to end support for 'older' mobile devices
Affected operating systems include Blackberry, Android 2.1 and Windows Phone 7.1.
WhatsApp plans to end support for older mobile operating systems to focus on newer, more popular models.

The company, which is owned by Facebook, said in a blog post on its website that it wanted to focus on the "mobile platforms the vast majority of people use".
More than one billion people use the WhatsApp messaging service, but those with older devices will need to upgrade if they are going to continue using the app.
Back in 2009 - when WhatsApp started - about 70% of smartphones sold had operating systems operated by BlackBerry and Nokia.
But as of 2016, more than 99.5% of operating systems used on mobile devices are now offered by Google, Apple and Microsoft.
