Hospital wards remain shut over norovirus outbreak
Nearly 50 cases have been reported at Raigmore Hospital, which remains closed to visitors.
NHS Highland's flagship hospital remains closed to visitors due to an outbreak of norovirus.
Nearly 50 cases have been reported at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness and three wards have been shut.
Visitors were told to stay away over the weekend and the situation will be reviewed on Monday afternoon.
On Friday, consultant microbiologist Dr Chin Lim said: "We have taken the decision today to suspend all visiting at Raigmore Hospital on a temporary basis.
“We currently have a high number of patients in hospital with symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting and we also know it is found in the community.
"By reducing the amount of traffic coming in to the hospital we hope that will reduce the risk of any further outbreaks of norovirus.”
NHS Highland was forced to close four wards at the Inverness infirmary for a week in April last year after 51 patients caught the virus.
