Defence secretary Michael Fallon announced a squadron of the Royal Engineers.
Around 100 British troops are to be deployed in Egypt to help an international peacekeeping force.
Defence secretary Michael Fallon announced that a squadron of the Royal Engineers will be sent there for up to 12 weeks, starting in March.
In a written statement to Parliament he said they would provide engineering support to the Multinational Force and Observers, which operates in the Sinai peninsula and works to oversee the 1979 peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.
