A crash between a school bus and van left three people in North Lanarkshire has left three people in hospital.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene on Banton Road and Kelvinhead Road in Kilsyth, North Lanarkshire, at around 8am on Tuesday.

No children were hurt but the driver of the van suffered very serious injuries and his passenger was also taken to hospital for checks.

The driver of the school bus was taken to hospital for treatment to an injured hand.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 8am police and emergency services responded to reports of two-vehicle crash between a van and school bus on Banton Road and Kelvinhead Road, in Kilsyth.

"The man driving the van suffered very serious injuries. The driver of the bus was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for treatment to a hand injury and another man, a passenger in the van, was also taken to hospital for checks."
