A British backpacker who called her family to tell them she was "frightened" and "people were trying to hurt her" after going missing in Thailand has been found.

Grace Taylor, 21, of Swanage, Dorset, had been unaccounted for for a week but made contact with her family yesterday to tell them she was "stressed" and she "wanted to come home".

Her family booked her a flight from Krabi Airport and believe she arrived there at about 9pm local time, but she sparked more worry when she didn't board the plane.

Dorset Police confirmed Ms Taylor was located at the airport and was being cared for by a tourist police office.

Ms Taylor's mother Sam had started a Facebook campaign urging the backpacking community in Thailand to look out for her - with her appeal being shared more than 50,000 times.

Mrs Taylor said she was "desperately worried" about her daughter and that other backpackers had reported that she was "disorientated" and "not in a good mental state".

A family member was understood to be flying out to Thailand to bring Ms Taylor home.
