Police in Moscow reportedly had to intervene as hundreds of people queued for up to three days to get hold of a pair of Kanye West's Yeezy 350 Boost Pirate Black shoes.

Despite the struggling Russian economy, scores queued up to get their hands on the much-sought after trainers, which were only available in three Moscow outlets.

Prices for the Yeezy's range fom 17-19,000 roubles (£155 to £175).

Some admitted to buy the footwear so that they could resell at more than double the price, in scenes that bore a striking resemblance to the food queues that dominated life in the Soviet Union.

Media outlets in the Russian capital say that police were to allow traffic to get past the gathered crowds and "restore order".
