A man and a teenage boy have been arrested on suspicion of murder after an imam was found with a severe head injury in a playground.
A 21-year-old man and the boy, 17, have been taken into custody for questioning and a Vauxhall Astra has been seized.
Jalal Uddin died in hospital after passers-by found him badly hurt in a play area off South Street in Wardleworth, Rochdale, on Thursday evening.
He is believed to have been walking through the playground as a shortcut home after visiting a friend following evening prayers at a nearby mosque.
After examining CCTV and making door-to-door inquiries, detectives believe he was attacked between 8:41pm and 8:48pm.
A 31-year-old man was arrested last week but released without charge.
