A baby remains in a critical condition after being found with life-threatening injuries in a flat.

The five-month-old child, named locally as Hayley Davidson, is being treated at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.

She was taken to hospital after being found with serious injuries at a flat on West High Street, Buckhaven, Leven in Fife on Sunday at around 12.30pm.

Police officers cordoned off the block of flats and forensic experts have been examining the area.

A spokeswoman for the force said inquiries into the circumstances of the case were ongoing.
