Father hears daughter die on phone as stray bullet hits her in head
Aaren O'Connor, 25, did not know she had been shot and kept telling dad David 'my head hurts'.
A father unwittingly listened to his daughter die when she was hit by a stray bullet as they talked on the phone.
Aaren O'Connor was sat in her car outside her apartment when she was shot in the head.
The 25-year-old did not know what had happened and kept saying: "My head hurts" before becoming incoherent, her father David told CBS Chicago.
"I didn't realise at the time but I was just having the last conversation with my daughter," he said.
Miss O'Connor had just moved from San Diego to Chicago in the US to be closer to her boyfriend and a new job at toy company Tomy.
Her father only found what had happened to her when her called her roommate to check on her.
She was found unresponsive in her car and rushed to hospital but died on Sunday.
A Go Fund Me page has now been set up in her memory to raise money for at-risk youths in Chicago.
It says: "Aaren was a beautiful woman who was intelligent, compassionate, caring and hardworking, with a deep love of her friends and family.
"By simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time the world has lost an amazing person."
