Rescue operation under way after climber falls 50ft in blizzard
The Cairngorm mountain rescue team was called in after the man fell on Coire an t-Sneachda.
A rescue operation was launched amid blizzard conditions after a climber fell 50ft off a rock face in the Cairngorms.
The mountain rescue team was called out around 2.20pm on Tuesday after being alerted of two climbers who were negotiating Aladdin's Mirror on Coire an t-Sneachda when one of them plunged off the rock face, injuring his leg.
A rescue helicopter was scrambled to assist the team.
Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team leader Willie Anderson said: "The aircraft did a super job airlifting the team and equipment up the hill to get closer to the casualty.
"The climbers were still attached to the ice so the plan is to do a technical lower and then stretcher the injured man off the mountain."
