A RSPCA inspector has gone missing following a call-out near Penzance.

Inspector Mike Reid went to help a flock of gannets stranded on rocks at Porthchapel Beach at 2pm on Sunday.

The 54-year-old from Redruth is described as 5ft 8ins tall, of stocky build with short greying spiked hair.

He was wearing black trousers, a white shirt and black jumper when he went to rescue the birds.

Devon and Cornwall police, the Coastguard and the RSPCA are working together to find him.
