Falsely accused: Mark Pearson speaks exclusively
Mark Pearson was commuting to work on an average, run-of-the-mill day - but when he was accused of sexual assault, is whole world was turned upside down. Having just been found not guilty, he spoke to us about his ordeal.
This morning in a TV exclusive we met Mark Pearson, who is trying to piece his life back together after being wrongly accused, and put on trial for sexually assaulting a film star.
After more than a year of turmoil, Mark was finally found not guilty just last Friday.
His ordeal began after the woman - who hasn’t been named - falsely claimed that he assaulted her for a few seconds as their paths crossed for a split second on the busy concourse at London Waterloo station.
Dragged through the court system, despite there being no witnesses and CCTV footage to back his defense, Mark is relieved to be a free man - but says more needs to be done to protect the anonymity of both parties until trial is over.
Someone who agrees is Erin Pizzey, a family care activist who became internationally famous for having started the first domestic violence shelter in the modern world. She has been a big supporter of Mark’s, and she joined us to give her opinion.
