A young polar bear has won the affections of the internet after a video of her growing up was watching hundreds of thousands of times.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium released the video of three-month-old Nora during a bid to find her a name.

After receiving votes from across the world, staff at the zoo in Ohio revealed that she would be given a name that combines those of both her parents - Nanuq and Aurora.

The clip shows Nora's journey from a tiny seven-day-old infant to a slightly more robust and fluffy pup at 83 days.

The zoo decided to raise her by hand after her mother left the fragile newborn alone for prolonged periods.

A second video was later released showing the moment the youngster got her name.
