An exhibition of historical underwear opens at Callendar House in Falkirk this weekend.

A History of Underwear features both men's and women's garments and organisers hope the show will attract historians, fashionistas and budding designers.

A Callendar House spokesperson said: "Over the centuries, our ideas of beauty have been driven by and responded to by fashion - and underwear has underpinned these changes and provided the foundation for changing outerwear.

"The exhibition will examine corsets, bras, women's knickers, male underwear, bustles and crinolines, exploring the practicalities of comfort and health as well as the aesthetics of fashion through the years."

The exhibition is being held as part of the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design. It runs until May 1 and admission is free.
