Two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a three-car crash in Kinross-shire.

It is understood the victims were rescued from a Maserati car which ended up wrecked in a field next to the M90.

The incident happened on the southbound carriageway of the motorway between junctions six and nine, one mile south of Kinross.

One of the victims was airlifted to hospital and one was transferred by ambulance.

A police spokeswoman confirmed a 999 call was made around 9.40am to report the crash. Police and ambulance personnel were sent to the scene.

The other vehicles involved were a Nissan Micra and a Ford Kia.

The M90 was closed while emergency services dealt with the crash but reopened at 11.40am.
