A 22-year-old woman has been sexually assaulted in Stirling.

The attack took place just before midnight near the Union Street roundabout at the city's Old Bridge.

It is understood police attended the scene after a member of the public phoned to report concern for the victim.

Forth Valley Police confirmed a man has been detained in connection with the attack and two other assault incidents on men, both aged 21.

A police spokesman said: "Police in Forth Valley were called to Forthvale Court, Cornton, at around 11.55pm on Tuesday following a report of concern for a woman.

"Officers are now investigating a report that a 21-year-old woman was seriously sexually assaulted.

"A man is currently detained in connection with this and two incidents of physical assault.

"The first involved two men, both aged 21, and the second involved a woman, aged 22.

"Both took place near to Union Street Roundabout in Stirling and occurred between 11.20pm and 11.50pm.

"Anyone with information which can assist with the ongoing investigation is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
