Attacker threatened to infect police officers' relatives with Aids
Andrew Adamson, 24, hit his partner, knocking her out with a single punch, then launched tirade.
A man who told police officers he was going to infect their relatives with Aids when they arrested him for battering his partner has been jailed.
Andrew Adamson was spotted on CCTV attacking Jane Small in Dundee city centre on November 15 last year, knocking her unconscious with a single punch in the street.
Police went to the scene before going on to find Adamson in nearby Albert Square.
When they arrived the 24-year-old launched a tirade, threatening the officers and their families with "sexual violence".
Fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson told Dundee Sheriff Court: "Around 2.20am CCTV operators saw the complainer running towards the accused. He then forcibly punched her in the face.
"She landed on the ground and was rendered unconscious. CCTV operators saw her not moving until the police arrived.
"The accused was traced nearby and told about the CCTV. He started to shout and swear threats of violence to their families.
"He threatened violence and sexual violence towards both officers and their families and remained aggressive."
Adamson, a prisoner at Perth Prison, pleaded guilty on indictment to charges of assault and behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.
The offences took place at Commercial Street and Albert Square, Dundee, and on a journey to the police station in Bell Street.
Paul Parker Smith, defending, said: "He had had a lot to drink and she had been speaking to a lot of strangers in the bar. He was angry and accepts he punched her."
Sheriff Alistair Carmichael jailed Adamson for a year and five months.
He said: "Given the nature of the assault that I have seen on CCTV and the things you said to the police officers there is no alternative to custody.
"This conduct was entirely unacceptable."
