Thieves break into petrol station and steal three-figure sum of cash
The robbery happened at the Abercraig Shell petrol station on the A92 near Newport in Fife.
Thieves have broken into a petrol station and stolen a three-figure sum of cash in north Fife.
The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday morning at the Abercraig Shell station, near the Forgan roundabout outside Newport on the A92.
Police are now appealing for anyone who has any information about the break-in, or who saw any unusual activity around the petrol station, to come forward.
Detective Inspector John Anderson said: "We believe the break-in was committed shortly before 3am this morning when the petrol station was closed and the persons responsible have remained in the area for a considerable period of time.
"The area and roads would have been quiet at that time of night and it is possible that members of the public may have noticed persons or a vehicle parked nearby.
"Whilst it may not have seemed suspicious at the time, this may now be important to our investigation."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
