Police yet to carry out formal identification on body discovered in the River Spey in Moray.
The families of two missing elderly women have been informed about the discovery of a body in the River Spey.
The body has yet to be formally identified, leading police to contact the families of 77-year-old Rosemary Laing and 88-year-old Kathleen Edward, who both went missing in Moray.
Separate searches had been launched for the two women before the discovery of the body near the Bridge of Sourden.
Ms Laing was reported missing from Rothes on Wednesday but has not been spoken to since Tuesday evening.
The 77-year-old is 5ft 3in of slim build and has short white or grey hair. She wears spectacles and is possibly wearing a knee length black jacket and trousers.
Ms Edward was reported missing from the Broomfield Square in Aberlour at around 2.30pm on Tuesday.
The coastguard has joined local officers in the search, Police Scotland said. She is 5ft 3in, of slim build with light grey short hair.
She uses two walking canes but is believed to have only one with her and it is thought she is possibly wearing red shoes.
Anyone with information on either of the missing women has been asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
