Wayne Rooney has shared a picture of him meeting his newborn son for the first time.

Kit Joseph Rooney, the Manchester United captain's third child with wife Coleen Rooney, was born yesterday afternoon weighing 8Ib 1oz.

The 30-year-old released the picture on his social networks today, telling his fans the family was preparing to take their new arrival home.

The Rooneys described themselves as "over the moon" at the latest addition.

The couple, who have been married since 2008, already have two boys Kai, six, and Klay, two.
