A CCTV image of a man has been released after a woman was assaulted at a train station.

The 45-year-old passenger was attacked at Falkirk High station at around 11.50pm on December 18.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokeswoman said the police are treating the investigation as "urgent" and they believe the man in the picture may be able to assist with their inquiries.

Constable Fiona MacAulay, the BTP officer in charge of the inquiry, said: "I am appealing to anyone who recognises the man shown in the photograph to contact me as a matter of urgency.

"Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on 0800 405040 or by texting 61016.

"Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."

The man in the photograph is described as being aged in his late 50s, about 5ft 8in, of large or heavy build with short receding grey hair.

He was wearing a black or dark brown leather jacket, a white shirt, dark coloured trousers and grey and white shoes.
