An elderly driver in Ontario has been charged and fined for driving a car that was covered with snow with only a portion of the driver's side windshield cleared.

The 80-year-old man was pulled over by a police officer and issued with an on-the-spot fine $110 after being charged with having an obstructed view.

Ontario Provincial Police released the image on Twitter and said the officer was told by the man that he was "too old and weak" to clear the snow and was only going a short distance so decided to drive with most of the vehicle obscured.

The police officer helped the man clear the vehicle before allowing him to drive off.
