A bomb disposal squad was sent to a Ministry of Defence training ground after reports of a suspicious package.

Police received reports of the package at the army-run Barry Buddon training camp, near Carnoustie in Angus, on Monday afternoon.

A spokesman said: "Police Scotland are in attendance at Barry Buddon training ground following a report received at 1.40pm this afternoon regarding a suspicious item.

"Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal are attending."

The squad was later stood down after the incident turned out to be a false alarm.

Barry Buddon is primarily a weapons training facility for the Ministry of Defence.
