An explosion has rocked a central square in Istanbul's Sultanahmet district - a major tourist attraction in the city - according to reports.

According to the Reuters, who cite local media, there are some casualties, but the cause of the blast isn't immediately clear. Police have sealed off the area.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud blast and video footage on the CNN Turk channel showed police and ambulances at the scene.
